This program will examine a variety of topics critical to the matrimonial law practitioner. It begins with a review of the latest cases, legislation and trends in matrimonial and family law. Next, presenters will tackle vexing ethical challenges unique to the areas of matrimonial and family law through the use of “real life” hypothetical scenarios and in-depth audience discussions providing 2.0 ethics credits.The program will then navigate the complex areas of separate property and commingling to better understand when premarital assets lose their separate property nature and are in danger of becoming marital assets subject to equitable distribution or, alternatively, when separate property credits are warranted. Finally, the program will provide an invaluable and thorough lesson in authentication and evidentiary foundation principles — crucial tools for any trial attorney, from novice to the most experienced.
