Old iMIS Number:
DET84

Description

Total Credits: 2.0 Professional Practice

This course will provide an overview of the current regulatory landscape of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) – better known as drones. The domestic market for drones will surge to over $13 billion by 2018 – more drones in the air means more privacy and liability concerns for drone owners, operators, and businesses, and an increasingly complex patchwork of regulations.
The first segment of this course will focus on federal regulation and preemption over state and local law, including the role of the FAA in regulating drone use. The second segment will focus on the current regulatory landscape in New York State, including a review of current UAV legislation and municipal enforcement.
