Description

This program is a fresh approach to some of the basics of support, family offense proceedings and ethics in family court practice. The program covers the elements of Family Court Procedure and suggested methodologies for how to litigate a child support proceeding, from preparation of the petition through objections to a support order, as well as appeals following objections. Also addressed are the basics of the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) and family offense proceedings under Article 8 of the Family Court Act, including practice points and sensitivity to the issues of domestic violence. The program concludes with 1.5 ethics credits, with specific attention to Family Court Practice, retainer agreements and fee arbitration.
