This basic-to-intermediate level program is designed as a well-rounded overview of what a practitioner will likely encounter, and should consider as strategies for clients, in the realm of estate planning. The experienced faculty members will review the substantive law, suggest practice tips, and highlight recommended steps you should take in your counseling, based on typical but also thorny issues your clients may bring to you. Ethical guidelines will be addressed, as well as ethical dilemmas that may be lurking below the surface in the course of an active estate planning practice.
 
Topics to be covered include:
 
• Preparing for an initial client interview
• How to discuss the responsibilities of estate and post mortem planning with your client
• Planning devices and documents (will, trusts, etc.)
• Ethical issues and guidelines
• Wealth transfers and gifts
• Life insurance and other insurance issues
