New York’s beer, wine and spirits industry is growing at an exciting pace. New York State is focused on providing better opportunities for craft breweries, cideries, distilleries, and wineries, providing opportunities for hundreds of new startups across the state. With these opportunities, however, come a host of new laws and new issues to be worked through at the New York State Liquor Authority. This program will explore this new area of liquor licensing while also providing a broader, focused overview of the state’s liquor licensing process with specific regard to buying or selling a business, helping clients identify the specific liquor license required for their business and the steps necessary to obtain it, working with the NYS Liquor Authority to gain the necessary approvals, and the difficulties that commonly arise during this process. We will also address other recent changes and proposed changes to the state’s liquor licensing laws, and pending bills that could affect the client and the application process.

Topics Covered:
  • Various types and classes of New York State liquor licenses, permits and approvals
  • The ways liquor licensing implications may impact the chosen structure for a transaction
