3.5 TOTAL MCLE CREDITS in Area of Professional Practice
This CLE aims to give non-tax lawyers an overview of the federal tax system and common tax terminology, to help them to identify tax issues when handling family law, trusts and estates, business formations and sales, and real estate matters, and to give guidance on what they should do if their client has a tax controversy. A review of these issues will help non-tax lawyers identify tax issues in the future so if necessary, they may seek the assistance from tax professionals to address any tax planning or compliance. Accordingly, this information will be helpful not only to those lawyers working in private practice, but also those working as corporate counsel, for non-profits, or for municipalities, states or the federal government.
