Matrimonial and Family Law in Chaotic Economic Times (2010)

Old iMIS Number:
D8724

Description

This Family Law Section CLE program focuses on how to make the valuation and distribution of assets more workable and reasonablein settlements and in educating the courtsin a continuing struggling economy. Are there new methodologies you can employ in valuing and distributing assets? Can you get courts to adjust their percentages of distribution?
Dealing with the marital home, and real estate in general, has become a huge problem in divorce cases today. Not only are real estate values much lower now than in recent years, but a spouse who wants to stay in the family home may not even qualify for refinancing it as a single, one-income household. The faculty discusses what options you could suggest to your clients, and time has also been reserved in the program for real estate experts to review the borrowing and refinancing standards being applied today.
The program also includes the useful review of the latest cases, legislation and trends in matrimonial law.
